The founder of the journal “Education in Nizhny Novgorod” is the Nizhny Novgorod Institute of the Education Development (NNIED) that occupies a leading position among institutes of complementary education in Privolzhskiy Federal District.

The history of the Institute numbers 85 years and it testifies to the uniqueness of its impact to the improvement of the teachers training system and to the region’s intellectual potential formation. 

Today the Nizhny Novgorod Institute of the Education Development is one of the leading educational and methodological centers of Russia. The Nizhny Novgorod Institute of the Education Development has gained the status of the Federal innovation site to realize the project “Designed-network Institute of Innovative Education”. The Institute is included into the Federal List of organizations that publish tutorials that are recommended in the educational process. Departmental special-purpose program “The Education Development of the Nizhegorodsky Region”, FSOS, the requirements of the Education Ministry of the Nizhegorodsky Region and City government define the prior directions of the Institute activity.

The main objective of the education in the Institute is to satisfy the needs of the person in the continuous educational process during his life by means of getting supplementary professional education in compliance with the demands of the labour-market.

The Nizhny Novgorod Institute of the Education Development (NNIED) today is a powerful center of postgraduate education. Highly qualified specialists deliver educational programs. Among the teachers there are 102 Professors of Sciences. Creative teams of the Institute are headed by highly authoritative people.

In 2012 the Nizhny Novgorod Institute of the Education Development obtained accreditation on the programmes of postgraduate professional education: speciality – 13.00.02 – The theory and methodology of education (Literature, the level of general and professional education); 13.00.03 - Remedial pedagogy (deaf-and-dumb pedagogy and methods of teaching the blind, oligophrenopedagogy and logopaedics); 13.00.08 - The theory and methodology of professional education.

In the Nizhny Novgorod Institute of the Education Development there are educational centers of using interactive equipment Smart, Panaboard, Mimio. Within the framework of the project “The Digital Educational Internet Sources Development” there is a programme of development of vocational competence of the primary school teachers, teachers of History, Social Studies, Geography, Biology, Chemistry “The Use of “EES in Education”. What’s more there is the body of tutors on IT. The Nizhny Novgorod Institute of the Education Development is the participant of the Fifth International IT Forum “IT Forum 2020: Informatization of Our Life”.

The Nizhny Novgorod Institute of the Education Development develops close relations in the fields of high and postgraduate education on the regional, republic and international levels with Venice Economics University, Nizhegorodsky metropolitanate of the Russian Orthodox Church, DUMNO, NFPK, MO RF, APKiPRO, Intel, Microsoft etc.

The Institute is a resource center for realizing multivectorial system of continuous education, is the Head University of the Association of the supplementary education Institutions of Privolzhskiy Federal District. The Institute’s staff takes part in the international project EC Tempus the main goal of which is to develop and introduce a stable structure of entrepreneurial skills nurturing by means of modernization of educational standards and Curriculum as well as teachers’ professional development. The Nizhny Novgorod Institute of the Education Development is also one of the coordinators of the project of taxation education for pupils.

Today the main objective of the Nizhny Novgorod Institute of the Education Development is to meet the goals of the education development special-purpose program. It’s is connected with methodological and information-analytical support of changes in the system of the Nighegorodsky Region education.
